I had the opportunity to speak at the Connected Pakistan Conference 2024 on the topic of Freelancing, Business & Entrepreneurship, engaging with young professionals, students, freelancers, and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in building careers in the digital economy.
During the session, I shared lessons from my own journey in technology, freelancing, and entrepreneurship, and discussed how digital skills can become the starting point for building a sustainable professional career.
I emphasized that freelancing should not necessarily be viewed as simply completing projects on online platforms. For many skilled professionals, it can become a pathway toward building long-term client relationships, developing specialized expertise, forming teams, and eventually establishing an agency or technology business.
We also discussed some of the practical challenges freelancers face, including finding the right clients, building credibility, creating a strong portfolio, communicating professionally, delivering consistent quality, and moving from one-time projects toward recurring business relationships.
Another important part of the discussion was entrepreneurship. I highlighted the importance of identifying real problems, creating valuable solutions, understanding the market, and developing a business mindset rather than focusing only on technical skills.
With AI and emerging technologies rapidly changing the digital industry, I also encouraged participants to keep learning and adapting. Technology is creating new opportunities, but professionals need to continuously upgrade their skills and understand how to use new tools effectively.
The Connected Pakistan Conference provided a valuable platform to exchange ideas and inspire young people to explore freelancing, entrepreneurship, and technology as viable career paths.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my experiences and contribute to a conversation focused on empowering Pakistan's next generation of digital professionals and entrepreneurs.
