I had the opportunity to conduct a complete freelancing workshop at the Arfa Kareem Incubation Technology Center (AKITC), Sargodha, where I interacted with aspiring freelancers, students, and young professionals interested in building careers in the digital economy.
The workshop was designed to provide participants with a practical understanding of freelancing—from getting started and developing the right skills to finding clients and building a sustainable career.
During the session, I discussed how to identify in-demand skills, create a professional portfolio, build a strong online presence, and effectively approach potential clients. I also shared practical insights into platforms such as Fiverr and Upwork, including how to position your services, create compelling profiles and offers, communicate with clients, and build a reputation through quality work.
A major focus of the workshop was client acquisition. I explained why successful freelancing is not simply about creating an account on a marketplace and waiting for orders. Freelancers need to understand their target market, identify client problems, communicate the value of their services, and develop long-term professional relationships.
We also discussed the journey beyond freelancing. Once a freelancer develops experience and a consistent client base, they can explore opportunities to build a team, establish an agency, develop digital products, or transition into entrepreneurship.
The workshop included practical discussions and an open Q&A session, allowing participants to ask questions about their individual freelancing goals, challenges, skills, and career paths.
It was a rewarding experience to share my knowledge and experience with the aspiring freelancers of Sargodha and encourage them to explore the opportunities available in the global digital marketplace.
I am grateful to Arfa Kareem Incubation Technology Center Sargodha for providing a platform to connect with young talent and contribute to the growth of Pakistan's freelancing and technology ecosystem.
